I’m the founder of MorphMarket.com. We are an online marketplace that connects breeders and keepers of lizards, geckos, snakes, frogs, spiders and other captive-bred pets. Launched in 2015, we are the largest reptile-related website in the world with about 5,000 active sellers. Our users passionately love the least loved animals.

We are seeking to add another experienced React front-end developer to our fully remote team.

Our reptile site is implemented in Python, of course. We use a Django/Postgres/Redis backend and new frontend development is in React/Typescript. Our legacy pages use JQuery/Bootstrap. As a FE dev, you could think of yourself as a Python handler. :)~

Key skills: React, Javascript, SCSS, Bootstrap, JQuery. Good knowledge of flexbox, debugging, browser caching, performance profiling, web performance fundamentals. Pragmatic: ability to balance quality and speed. Nice to have: Typescript, React Native, AWS Services, webpack.

There are about 10 people on our product team. We collaborate with Github and Slack. Our business has done well even through the ups and downs of the economy. We are committed to a positive culture for the dev team.

This is a full-time, long-term engagement. Most working hours should be during US timezones.

I offer machine/deep learning consultancy: happy to help you understand the state-of-art research and translate models implemented in recent papers into production code.

I can only work part-time (either regularly a few days per week or larger but fixed blocks of time), because I have ongoing research projects in machine learning that I need to finish, though I can work on these remotely if I need to relocate.

I have two distinct graduate degrees, one in CS and one in pure mathematics and an eye for detail, which is crucial when it comes to doing a sensible implementation of certain neural networks.

I also have expertise managing groups of data scientists and reseachers to pull of bigger scientific projects. We make vertical farms.

Hybrid office job, Coimbra, Portugal. Relocation, assistance of lawyers at the expense of the company.

The task is to found the data team and grow into its lead. At first it will be just you, but during the year it is planned to hire more people to the team.

It is necessary to lay the foundation of Data Mesh (current leading idea, up to discussion) and data culture in the company, which will allow scaling to dozens of factories.

In the beginning, you need to work a lot with your hands on the backend and infrastructure: raise the database, write the API and everything else.

Requirements:
Data Engineering experience, Data Analysis experience, Good people skills. You will have the support of our team, but we need you to be the driver of the project.
