Trump addresses concerns he would seek retribution: 'I would have every right to go after them'

Former President Trump said Wednesday he would have “every right” to go after his political adversaries if he is re-elected in November.

Trump sat down for an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity to discuss the state of the country and his political campaign after he was found guilty last week on 34 counts of falsifying business records in NY v. Trump.

Hannity asked the former president what he would say to people who believe he wants retribution and will use the justice system to go after his political adversaries if he returns to the White House in 2025.

“Number one, they’re wrong,” Trump replied. “It has to stop, because otherwise, we’re not going to have a country. Look, when this election is over, based on what they’ve done, I would have every right to go after them, and it’s easy, because it’s Joe Biden and you see all the criminality, all of the money that’s going into the family and him, all of this money from China, from Russia, from Ukraine.”

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee claims the Biden family and its associates received millions from foreign entities — including countries like China, Ukraine and Romania — when President Biden was vice president.

BIDEN FAMILY, HUNTER ASSOCIATES RAKED IN OVER $17M FROM FOREIGN SOURCES, IRS WHISTLEBLOWER TESTIFIES

“The Bidens intentionally sought to hide, confuse, and conceal their influence-peddling schemes, but bank records don’t lie. The Bidens made millions from foreign nationals providing what seems to be no services other than access and influence. From the thousands of records we’ve obtained so far, we know the Biden family set up over a dozen companies when Joe Biden was vice president,” read a press release from House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer’s office in May 2023.

Biden’s brother James testified earlier this year that the president “never had any involvement” in the family’s business dealings. Ian Sams, the White House spokesman for oversight and investigations, told MSNBC last year that there “isn’t any evidence of wrongdoing” as House Republicans claim.

Trump said he doesn’t want to do what Democrats have done to the Republican Party.

“They want to arrest on no crime. They want to arrest the person that won the nomination in a landslide,” he told “Hannity.”

“What they’re doing to me, if it’s going to continue, we’re really not going to have much of a country left. It’s really, it is weaponization. You call it lawfare, you call it — some people call it just warfare — but it is weaponization of the election,” the 2024 GOP frontrunner added.

“And we’re talking about, I think, the most important election in the history of our country. This will go down, I believe, as the most important election in the history of our country. We can’t have this stuff go on.”

Seattle man has casual response after leading police on dramatic chase: 'Can I get a cigarette?'

Body camera video released by police in Seattle shows the moments when they say they located a man in a stolen car, tried to stop him from speeding away, pursued him while he ran over two people in tents and finally apprehended him after he was hiding out in a dumpster.

It all happened around 5:40 a.m. May 5, when officers spotted what they believed to be a stolen vehicle with a man in the driver’s seat sleeping near Sixth Avenue South and South Snoqualmie Street, police said. Bodycam footage showed officers placing multiple tire deflation devices under the wheels of what appeared to be a white Toyota Camry.

Officers announced the “terminator devices” deployed to give the unidentified suspect an opportunity to voluntarily comply, but he sped off anyway, causing three tires to flatten, police said.

A chase ensued, and the 30-year-old suspect could be seen hitting tents that had people inside. Police said two individuals in the tents were hurt, while others had to jump out of the way to escape injury.

The unidentified suspect continued speeding away from officers until the car stopped operating. The suspect could then be seen hopping fences before hiding in a dumpster. He was located by a K-9 and ordered to stand up.

Despite the dramatic pursuit, the suspect was rather casual when giving himself up.

“Can I get a cigarette or something?” the suspect asked while officers commanded him to get out of the dumpster prior to his arrest.

“I’m getting out, man. Chill out,” the suspect said in response to the commands.

Police say the suspect was legally prohibited from having a firearm, but they found a gun somewhere on the route the vehicle had gone on. The vehicle was towed from the freeway on-ramp that the suspect had abandoned it on.

The two people who were hit by the car were treated for their injuries at the scene.

The suspect was arrested on charges of vehicular assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle.

ABC News president Kim Godwin steps down after reports of turmoil at the network

After viral reports over tension within the network, ABC News president Kim Godwin will be stepping down.

In an email sent out to staff on Sunday night, Godwin announced that she would be retiring from her position after being appointed in 2021.

“I have decided to retire from broadcast journalism,” Godwin said in the email obtained by Fox News Digital.

She continued, “Anyone who’s passionate about what we do knows there’s no other business like it, so this was not an easy or quick decision. But after considerable reflection, I’m certain it’s the right one for me as I look to the future and prioritize what’s most important for me and my family.”

Godwin also praised the network for hiring her as the first Black woman to head a national news network.

“I understood and appreciated the profound significance of being the first Black woman to lead a national broadcast news network when I accepted the role as president of ABC News a little over three years ago. It’s both a privilege and a debt to those who chipped away at the ceiling before me to lead a team whose brand is synonymous with trust, integrity and a dogged determination to be the best in the business,” she said.

Disney Networks president Debra OConnell also sent out a statement thanking Godwin for her work.

“Dana and I would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to Kim for her service as president of ABC News. Kim has navigated this team through consequential times in our world, and she did so with respect for the brand and profession – and for that and more, we thank her,” OConnell wrote.

OConnell also stated that she would be heading up the ABC News division as they move through this “period of transition.”

Godwin reportedly faced internal backlash at the network over her leadership style, as frustrated insiders at ABC argued OConnell needed to take action.

“She has to take swift moves,” a person close to ABC’s internal operations told CNN of OConnell. “People there are restless. They are extremely frustrated.”

Several ABC News staffers also told CNN that Godwin had made several prominent mistakes, including the creation of an inner circle that has “alienated staffers,” according to the report.

Godwin has also privately complained of being micromanaged by OConnell, according to Puck News. The outlet reported that in conversations with several current ABC News employees, that “representation” and the fact that Godwin is the first Black woman to head a broadcast news division, had become the obvious, underlying problem in any discussions about the future of the company, and her possible firing.

“Race in the workplace is so nuanced that it can be easily weaponized by all sides and bad actors of any race,” a Black ABC News veteran told Puck.

“Disney fell into the trap of the soft bigotry of low expectations and appointed someone everyone knows is unqualified to do the job… Now [they] are worried that firing the first Black woman would be an act of racism, when she is simply bad at her job,” the person continued.
