Maryland suspects wanted after carjacking at bank’s drive-thru ATM: police

Two armed suspects are wanted in Maryland after they were caught on camera carjacking a driver at a bank’s drive-thru ATM, authorities said Friday.

The incident happened just before 3 a.m. Monday at the Wells Fargo Bank in the 6200 block of Baltimore Avenue in Riverdale Park, Riverdale Park police said.

The suspects drove a gray Audi sedan with stolen tags and blocked a 2016 Toyota Highlander that was using the bank’s drive-thru ATM, police said.

Surveillance images appear to show one of the masked suspects holding the driver at gunpoint while the other masked suspect approaches the vehicle.

One surveillance image captured the suspect at the driver’s side door lowering his mask and revealing his face.

The suspects were able to escape with both vehicles.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities asked anyone with information to contact the Riverdale Park Police Department.

Riverdale Park is located about 8 miles outside of Washington, D.C.

Axl Rose ends Guns N' Roses concert ritual after fan 'hurt' by microphone toss into crowd

Axl Rose is holding on to his microphone, for now.

The Gun N’ Roses frontman penned a lengthy statement on Twitter following a report that one fan at a concert in Australia was injured after Axl tossed the mic into the crowd — a longstanding tradition signaling the end of a GNR show.

“It’s come to my attention that a fan may have been hurt at r show in Adelaide Australia possibly being hit by the microphone at the end of the show when I traditionally toss the mic to the fans,” he wrote.

After the band’s final song, “Paradise City,” Rose threw the microphone into the sea of people at Adelaide Oval last week, and allegedly struck Rebecca Howe in the face. Howe said she suffered two black eyes.

“If true obviously we don’t want anyone getting hurt or to somehow in anyway hurt anyone at any of r shows anywhere,” Axl wrote.

“Having tossed the mic at the end of r show for over 30 years we always felt it was a known part of the very end of r performance that fans wanted and were aware of to have an opportunity to catch the mic.”

He added, “Regardless in the interest of public safety from now on we’ll refrain from tossing the mic or anything to the fans during or at r performances.”

“Unfortunately there r those that for their own reasons chose to frame their reporting regarding this subject in a more negative n’ irresponsible out of nowhere light which couldn’t b farther from reality. We hope the public and of course r fans get that sometimes happens.

“A BIG THANKS to everyone for understanding.”

Hundreds of GNR fans responded to Rose’s tweet with dismay. One follower wrote it was “one of the greatest days/nights” of their lives after they caught the mic during a Guns N’ Roses show.

Howe told Adelaide Advertiser after the incident, “What if it was a couple of inches to the right or left? I could have lost an eye … what if it hit me in the mouth and I broke my teeth? If my head was turned and it hit me in the temple, it could have killed me.”

The band — including Slash, Duff McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Melissa Reese — is heading to New Zealand for two more tour stops on their highly anticipated 2020 tour, which was postponed due to the pandemic. They’ll end the Guns N’ Roses 2020 Tour in London at Hyde Park on June 30, 2023.

Steelers' George Pickens yells at coaches after teammate's 3rd-down drop

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie George Pickens appeared to be frustrated with the lack of targets on one of the team’s drives in the team’s 19-16 win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

The wide receiver’s outburst came early in the fourth quarter after wide receiver Diontae Johnson dropped the ball on third down, giving it back to the Falcons. Pickens was seen on the broadcast yelling at coaches to get him the ball.

“Come on, man. Throw me the f—ing ball,” he was seen saying.

It wasn’t clear exactly who Pickens was directing his frustration toward. The former Georgia standout came into the game with 36 catches for 510 yards and two touchdowns. His targets could’ve been increased following Chase Claypool’s trade to the Chicago Bears, but he hasn’t gotten more than six since Week 5.

Pickens had one catch on two targets for two yards in the game.

Kenny Pickett was 16 of 28 with a touchdown pass to Connor Heyward. Pat Freiermuth had three catches for 76 yards and Johnson had five catches for 60 yards. Johnson was targeted 11 times.

Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota was 13 of 24 with 167 passing yards, a touchdown pass and an interception. He threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to MyCole Pruitt.

Steelers kicker Matthew Wright was 4-for-4 on field goals.

Pittsburgh improved to 5-7 and Atlanta dropped to 5-7.

Oregon player punches Oregon State fan after devastating loss

Emotions ran high for an Oregon Duck after they blew a three-touchdown lead against their in-state rival Oregon State Beavers on Saturday.

As Oregon State fans stormed the field after the upset victory, Ducks linebacker DJ Johnson was caught on camera punching a Beaver fan.

The fan tipped his hat in Johnson’s direction and began to walk away.

He had his back turned to Johnson, who had to be restrained by two of his coaches.

The Ducks led 31-10 with just under five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but the Beavers outscored Oregon 28-3 to close the game and win the game, 38-34.

The loss was devastating for Oregon, as they controlled their own destiny to a Pac-12 title game appearance. But with the loss, the Ducks now need Washington to lose to Washington State. If the Huskies win, the Ducks will lose a tiebreaker to the Utah Utes.

Capitol Christmas Tree arrives in Washington, DC after 13-day trip from North Carolina

Christmas kicked off in Washington, D.C. Friday morning as the 2022 Capitol Christmas Tree arrived at the U.S. Capitol.

‘Ruby,’ the name of this year’s tree, is a 78-foot tall Red Spruce from North Carolina, and it was harvested in the Pigsah National Forest.

The tree and its traveling crew left North Carolina for the Capitol during the first week of November. Live tracking of the tree’s journey began Nov. 5 and ended with the final stop on Nov. 18.

Ruby the Red Spruce made 16 stops along the way and at each one fans could sign a banner, participate in arts and crafts, and learn more about America’s national forests.

After midterm election, the challenges facing Democrats and Republicans

The outcome of the 2022 election was far different from what I expected – and what most pollsters and analysts expected. I thought Republicans would win dramatically bigger victories. When the exit polls had 75%, three-out-of-four, voters saying America was on the wrong track, I thought for sure there would be a repudiation of Democrats … Continue reading After midterm election, the challenges facing Democrats and Republicans

Brandin Cooks sends cryptic tweet after Texans don't move him at NFL trade deadline

After not being traded from the Houston Texans on NFL trade deadline day, wide receiver Brandin Cooks posted a cryptic tweet that appeared to show some frustration.

The Texans are reeling through seven games this season with a 1-51 record and no playoff hopes in sight. It’s for that reason many believed Cooks would be moved to a playoff contender.

It seems Cooks may have wanted the same thing after tweeting following the 4 p.m. last call for trades

“Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted,” Cooks tweeted. “Covered for the lies for too long those days are done. Crossed the line with playing with my career.”

The 29-year-old signed a two-year extension worth $39.8 million with the Texans that runs through the 2024 season, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent. And $36 million of the deal is guaranteed.

BROWNS TALK TRADE WITH TEXANS AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH BRANDIN COOKS AS TARGET

The one caveat to a Cooks trade for any team was the $18 million he is owed for the 2023 season, which seemed to be a deal breaker in a potential trade with the Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys and Texans were reportedly discussing a deal that would have moved Cooks to Dallas, but they couldn’t see eye to eye on compensation, so the deal fell through, per Sports Illustrated.

Cooks’ first year in Houston was tremendous with quarterback Deshaun Watson favoring him during a 2020 season in which Watson led the league in passing yards. Cooks totaled 1,150 yards on 81 receptions with six touchdowns.

DERRICK HENRY RUSHES FOR 219 YARDS, BREAKS EDDIE GEORGE’S TITANS RECORD IN WIN

Cooks did well despite quarterback troubles in 2021 with 90 catches for over 1,000 yards. But, this year with Davis Mills at the helm, the Texans have struggled offensively, and Cooks’ production has dipped as a result.

Cooks has 354 yards on 32 catches with just one score this season, and he hasn’t broken 100 yards in a single game.

With the trade deadline past, Cooks will now have to finish out the regular season with Houston before he can be traded again, assuming that’s what he wants.

It’s a short week for the Texans, who face the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles Thursday night.

Nets' Kyrie Irving screams at Ben Simmons after teammate's timid decision

Kyrie Irving just wants Ben Simmons to shoot the basketball.

During the Brooklyn Nets-Milwaukee Bucks battle in Wisconsin on Wednesday night, Irving drove to the basket and dished off a pass to Simmons who was in the lane with him.

But, instead of going up hard to the hoop for some points, Simmons immediately looked to pass the rock.

Irving showed his frustration with his teammate and a hot microphone caught him yelling, “Shoot it Ben!”

Simmons would maneuver around the Bucks’ defense and find Kevin Durant, who did what he does best: shoot.

Durant pump-faked a shot, drove to the left elbow, and hit a jumper for two points.

BEN SIMMONS RAGES AT ‘BULL—-’ CALL, FOULS OUT FOR SECOND TIME IN THREE GAMES

The Nets would lose to the Bucks, 110-99, where Simmons went 2-for-7 from the field in 34:28 of playing time.

It may have been points for Brooklyn, but Irving has the same feelings as a lot of Nets fans right now. Since he made his Nets debut this season, Simmons has looked like a very timid player offensively.

Simmons has infamously been one to think pass first, too, as his final games with the 76ers in the playoffs showed that.

He’s been filling up the stat sheet elsewhere with the Nets, though, in terms of assists and rebounds. But the player that’s averaged at least 14 points per game with the Philadelphia 76ers hasn’t been putting the ball through twine too much to start the year.

Heading into this game with the Bucks, Simmons took just 13 total shots in three contests, making seven for a total 17 points. Simmons was averaging 28 minutes per game, so 4.3 average field goal attempts per game isn’t what head coach Steve Nash expected.

Simmons has also fouled out in two of the first three games, which isn’t like him. Nash spoke to The New York Post about how he wants “joy” to be found by Simmons again playing the game he’s been away from for some time.

NETS’ KYRIE IRVING FOLLOWING BEN SIMMONS’ BROOKLYN DEBUT: ‘FOULING OUT IS NOT AN OPTION’

“For me, it’s trying to take the risk off the table,” he said. “I’m not expecting him to be 100% in the short term, but I want him to try to find that [joy] and join him playing the game.”

Now, having players like Irving and Durant on the floor usually means diminished shot attempts. This is also Simmons’ first time on the court in an NBA setting since the 2020-21 campaign, having held out with the 76ers last year before being a part of the James Harden trade involving the Nets. Then, a back injury forced him to wait until this season to make his team debut.

As Simmons gets more minutes and more used to his new teammates, perhaps he will begin to shoot the ball more, especially in situations where he is close to the rim.

At least, that’s what Irving wants to see when he passes the ball to him.
