DeSantis fires back at Disney as company tries to 'usurp' state oversight

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the state legislature is working on a bill to reassert its control over Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District.

DeSantis said the legislature will void a development agreement Disney made to invalidate the state’s oversight of the area. DeSantis had signed a bill earlier this year, HB 9-B, that stripped Reedy Creek Improvement District of its self-governance privileges, giving oversight back to the state.

“Disney’s corporate kingdom is over — despite their repeated and futile attempts to circumvent the Legislature and the will of the people,” said Governor Ron DeSantis Monday.

DeSantis had appointed the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board to replace the Reedy Creek Improvement District, but the oversight board discovered the district had made development plans with Disney right before HB 9-B was enacted, giving control of the district’s development rights to Disney, Click Orlando reported.

WAR OVER THE CORPORATE KINGDOM: DESANTIS’ NEW BOARD SPARS FOR CONTROL WITH DISNEY

DeSantis said the deal was “designed to usurp the authority of the CFTOD board.”

“They [Disney] are not superior to the laws that are enacted by the state of Florida,” the governor said during a news conference Monday. “They thought they could create a development agreement that would render everything we did null and void. That’s not going to work, that’s not going to fly.”

DISNEY’S REEDY CREEK IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT TO GET NEW NAME, GOVERNOR-APPOINTED BOARD

The press conference was delivered at the Reedy Creek Administration Building. The governor added that lawmakers will end Disney’s self-inspection of rides, while allowing the state to examine an amusement ride if someone is seriously injured.

“Their cheerleaders in the media thought that Disney ‘outsmarted’ the state, but the new control board uncovered their sloppy scheme, and the agreements will be nullified by new legislation that I intend to execute. Disney will operate on a level playing field with every other business in Florida. I look forward to the additional actions that the state control board will implement in the upcoming days,” DeSantis continued.

“People are like, ‘Well, there’s what should we do with this land?” said DeSantis at the press conference Monday. “Maybe create a state park, maybe try to do more amusement parks? Someone even said, ‘Maybe you need another state prison?’ Who knows? I just think that the possibilities are endless.”

DeSantis said lawmakers could roll out the bill by as early as next week, according to the Orlando Sun Sentinel.

TUCKER CARLSON: This is the state of International Women's Day

The battle of the sexes has finally ended after several million years of jockeying and strife. Men won conclusively. We know this because yesterday was International Women’s Day. That’s the day we as a global community celebrate women, but if you looked closely at the women we were celebrating, you may have noticed a lot of them weren’t actually women. They were lumpy-looking dudes, and that was not accidental.

In fact, it was a brilliant piece of sexual jiu-jitsu. Sun Tzu could have written that strategy. Here you had men who are clearly craftier than they look somehow convincing a whole lot of otherwise self-aware and highly educated women to praise them as living paragons of womanhood. Think about how hard it would be to sell that proposition. “I’m going to steal your identity and then mock and degrade the immutable characteristics that define you as a person, and then as I do this, you are going to smile brightly and applaud and then give a speech about how liberated you feel.” How about that?

The whole thing is amazing. It’s like watching a practical joke devised by the drunkest, most cynical fraternity brothers at the University of Alabama during a hungover breakfast at Denny’s. You can picture them all there in baseball hats, dipping Copenhagen, spitting into their coffee mugs. “Think we can get girls to fall for that? No way. They’ll never buy it.” Oh, but they did. They bought it, and it wasn’t really that hard to sell it. Liberals will fall for anything if they think it is fashionable and progressive, and so before long, the practical joke from Denny’s at the University of Alabama made it all the way to the White House, where it was taken with the utmost seriousness. Here’s Jill Biden and Secretary Tony Blinken handing out an award on International Women’s Day to a dude in makeup.

ANNOUNCER: In Argentina, Alba Rueda is a transgender woman who was kicked out of classrooms, barred for sitting for exams, refused job opportunities, subjected to violence and rejected by her family, but in the face of these challenges, she worked to end violence and discrimination against the LGBTQI+ community in Argentina.

CANADIAN FEMALE POWERLIFTER ‘OUTRAGED’ USA FEDERATION MUST ALLOW TRANS ATHLETES TO COMPETE AGAINST WOMEN

Did you see Tony Blinken fight the natural urge to flinch as that guy kissed him? There was no flinching allowed on “International Men-in-Dresses Day.” That might spoil the intended message for the audience, which is, “Hey, ladies, meet your new hero. He’s the guy who’s making fun of you.” And they do welcome the guy. They clap like seals, and you wonder as you watch this, is feminism over? Let’s see. Has Rome fallen? Yes. Feminism is over. Feminism has been flattened and sacked by the Visigoths of the trans movement, and if you doubt that, notice that all the women’s awards these days seem to be going to men.

Here we have Richard Levine put on an admiral’s uniform with a skirt and become USA Today’s Woman of the Year. William Thomas wears a one-piece bathing suit and gets nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year. Then some guy who calls himself Fae, with an “e,” was Hershey’s Women’s Day honoree, and so on. The men are taking all the prizes set aside for women, but that’s not all they’re stealing. They’re also taking what progressive called “lived experiences.” So anyone could throw on a halter top, but the real dividing line is biology. Only actual women can have menstrual cycles. Well, not anymore. Anything a woman can do, a man can do better. That’s the slogan of the trans movement, and that includes getting cramps.

TRANSGENDER GIRL: Wow. I was just thinking, “Oh, I swear to God, if anyone says, Welcome to womanhood, I’m going to lose my —-.”

Talk about mansplaining! That’s the ultimate mansplainer, some guy, ladies at a certain time each month, your tummy may hurt a little, let me tell you about it and what to do when that happens. It’s too funny. “Of course, if men can get their periods, by definition, they can also get pregnant, and that’s why we need legal abortion. So, men won’t be forced into back-alleys.” Watch law professor Khiara Bridges explain.

NEWSOM AG SUED OVER LAW DEEMING CALIFORNIA ‘SANCTUARY STATE’ FOR MINORS SEEKING TRANSGENDER PROCEDURES

HAWLEY: You’ve referred to people with a capacity for pregnancy. Would that be women?

BRIDGES: Many women, cis women, have the capacity for pregnancy. Many cis women do not have the capacity for pregnancy. There are also trans men who are capable of pregnancy as well as non-binary people who are capable of pregnancy.

HAWLEY: So, this isn’t really a women’s rights issue?

BRIDGES: We can recognize that this impacts women while also recognizing that it impacts other groups. Those things are not mutually exclusive, Sen. Hawley.

HAWLEY: So, your view is, is that the core of this right then is about what?

BRIDGES: So, I want to recognize that your line of questioning is transphobic and it opens up trans people to violence. Denying that trans people exist and pretending not to know that they exist.

HAWLEY: I’m denying that trans people exist by asking you if you are talking about women having pregnancies?

BRIDGES: Are you? Are you? Are you? Do you believe that men can get pregnant?

HAWLEY: No, I don’t think men can get pregnant.

BRIDGES: You are denying that trans people exist.

How long did that woman spend in the North Korean brainwashing camp? How long would she hesitate before killing you? Not long. So, here she is telling Sen. Hawley, “Stop defending the matriarchy, senator, abortion is between a man and his doctor. Hands off men’s bodies. Abortion is for the men.” Well, the media agree, by the way.

ARKANSAS LEGISLATURE APPROVES CONTROVERSIAL TRANSGENDER BATHROOM BILL

MSNBC REPORTER: So, we’ve all been talking about what the Dobbs decision means for women, but it also matters for non-binary and trans-birthing people. So, I went to Atlanta, Georgia, to hear from one trans man about his experience with abortion.

REP. BISHOP AT HEARING: Do you believe that men can become pregnant and have abortions?

AIMEE ARRAMBIDE, ABORTION ACTIVIST: Yes.

REP. CORI BUSH: Trans men and non-binary people do become pregnant.

COLLEEN MCNICHOLAS, PLANNED PARENTHOOD: So long as you have a uterus, you have the capability of getting pregnant, and if you think that accessing abortion care is stigmatizing when you present as a woman, imagine what it is when you’re presenting as your authentic male self.

REP. RO KHANNA: I appreciate your mentioning that there are transgender men and non-binary individuals who rely on reproductive health services and abortion services.

Somewhere at the University of Alabama, those fraternity brothers are throwing in another dip and howling. “We got them to make abortion all about men’s bodies. We got them to watch TikTok videos where some dude lectures them about menstrual cramps. We got them to give all the ladies’ awards to men and feel virtuous as they were doing it.” It is the funniest practical joke ever.

Of course, it eliminated an entire category of humanity: Women. So where are the defenders of women? You remember Gloria Steinem famously said, “If men could get pregnant, abortion be a sacrament.” Now she’s going to House hearings saying men can get pregnant.

Oregon player punches Oregon State fan after devastating loss

Emotions ran high for an Oregon Duck after they blew a three-touchdown lead against their in-state rival Oregon State Beavers on Saturday.

As Oregon State fans stormed the field after the upset victory, Ducks linebacker DJ Johnson was caught on camera punching a Beaver fan.

The fan tipped his hat in Johnson’s direction and began to walk away.

He had his back turned to Johnson, who had to be restrained by two of his coaches.

The Ducks led 31-10 with just under five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but the Beavers outscored Oregon 28-3 to close the game and win the game, 38-34.

The loss was devastating for Oregon, as they controlled their own destiny to a Pac-12 title game appearance. But with the loss, the Ducks now need Washington to lose to Washington State. If the Huskies win, the Ducks will lose a tiebreaker to the Utah Utes.

This isn’t the first time this season a college football player has been aggressive with a fan this year – Alabama’s Jermaine Burton was caught striking a female Tennessee fan after the Vols’ thrilling win over the Crimson Tide back in October.

California state senator says he remembers Paul Pelosi's alleged attacker from 2013 nudist protests

California state Sen. Scott Wiener, a Democrat, said that he remembers Paul Pelosi’s alleged attacker from nudist protests in 2013 relating to the implementation of a San Francisco ban on public nudity.

David DePape, 42, is accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in their San Francisco home early on Friday morning.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said DePape is being charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary and other felony charges in relation to the attack, which took place after 2 a.m.

Police were responding to a wellbeing check when officers found DePape and Paul Pelosi struggling with a hammer, according to Scott, adding that the officers saw DePape take the hammer away from Paul Pelosi, who then “violently assaulted” him.

NANCY PELOSI’S HUSBAND PAUL PELOSI ATTACKED BY SUSPECT DAVID DEPAPE, WHO SHOUTED ‘WHERE IS NANCY?’: SOURCE

According to a law enforcement source, the suspect was shouting, “Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?”

Wiener, a California state senator in the San Francisco area, told Fox News Digital that he remembers DePape from pro-nudist protests in 2013.

“[DePape] looked very familiar to me from when we were dealing with public nudity issues in 2012/2013,” Wiener said.

The protests came after Wiener sponsored legislation banning public nudity in 2012, according to ABC7.

Weiner said that DePape was associated with Gypsy Taub, who is a nudist activist in Berkeley.

“[DePape] was associated with this woman by the name of Gypsy Taub, who was like this very creepy person who, in addition to her activism around public nudity, she was a 9/11 denier,” Weiner said. “She was the ringleader, and she was extremely aggressive and creepy. … And I think he was one of the people in her work.”

PAUL PELOSI SAN FRANCISCO ATTACK: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT VIOLENT HOME INVASION

The California state senator said that Taub and DePape weren’t considered “regular” nudist activists, but “they were more aggressive” and “they were creepy.”

“I just want to, you know, be very clear, that they were in a different category than the regular [nudist activists],” Wiener said.

DePape was tackled by police officers, who then took him into custody. Police are investigating a possible motive for the attack.

Drew Hammill, spokesman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, said in a statement on Friday afternoon that Paul Pelosi is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery to repair a skull fracture as well as other injuries.

“Earlier this morning, Paul Pelosi was attacked at home by an assailant who acted with force, and threatened his life while demanding to see the Speaker,” Hammill said. “Mr. Pelosi was admitted to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital where he underwent successful surgery to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands. His doctors expect a full recovery.”

Oregon State Hospital restricts treatment time on alleged criminals

A federal judge has ruled that the Oregon State Hospital must impose strict limits on the length of time it treats patients accused of crimes who need mental health treatment.

Judge Michael W. Mosman’s ruling seeks to ease the psychiatric hospital’s overcrowding, speed up patient admission and stop people waiting for admission from languishing in jail, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported Monday.

HEALTH CARE WORKERS WIN $10M SETTLEMENT OVER HOSPITALS’ COVID VACCINE MANDATE: ‘THIS IS A BIG WAKEUP CALL’

Effective immediately, the hospital must release “aid-and-assist” patients accused of misdemeanors within 90 days of admission, and those accused of felonies within six months of admission. Aid-and-assist are patients found by a judge unable to participate in their own defense at trial.

The judge’s decision overrules an Oregon law that says the hospital can hold an aid-and-assist patient for up to three years, or the maximum amount of time that a person could have been sentenced to prison for their alleged crime, whichever is shorter.

Disability Rights Oregon and Metropolitan Public Defenders requested the order after protesting the hospital’s lengthy admission delays. Disability Rights Oregon in 2002 won a court order that required the hospital to admit aid-and-assist patients within seven days so they can begin mental health treatment quickly.

The hospital has struggled to meet that timeline, and the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the problem.

Emily Cooper, legal director for Disability Rights Oregon, said she was “relieved” by Mosman’s decision.

“It’s a very promising first step,” Cooper said.

The hospital said approximately 100 people should be discharged immediately under the new timeline. They will be released to treatment centers in their home counties over the next six months, according to state hospital spokesperson Amber Shoebridge.

The request to strictly limit treatment times was based on a court-ordered review of the state hospital’s admissions policies conducted this year by Michigan-based mental health expert Dr. Debra Pinals.

OREGON POLICE OFFICER’S ‘BRAVE ACTIONS’ SAVE MAN TRAPPED INSIDE BURNING CAR, AUTHORITIES SAY

Pinals’ report suggested the hospital gradually decrease its wait times for patients, aiming for an average of 22 days or fewer at the start of August; 11 days by January; and to be back in compliance with the 2000 federal court order, averaging 7 days or fewer, by mid-February.

The hospital was not on track to meet that goal, prompting Disability Rights Oregon to request new admissions guidelines.

Cooper, the Disability Rights Oregon attorney, said a lack of community mental health beds remains a problem, but a recent surge of state funds dedicated to mental health services should help accommodate patients as they return to their home counties.
