Former hotel VP accused of drunkenly slapping teenage Disney World restaurant hostess over dress code snub

A South Carolina man is set to make his first court appearance next month after he was accused of slapping a teenage hostess at a Walt Disney World Resort restaurant three times in the forehead, while under the influence, after she refused to seat him due to the restaurant’s dress code.

John Munro, 64, of South Carolina, was arrested and charged with battery after an altercation involving him and a 19-year-old hostess at Cítricos inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort back in November.

Munro, no stranger to luxury hotels, was the Vice President of Hospitality, Sales, and Marketing at the prestigious Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head, where he lives.

Karen Moraghan, the spokesperson for the South Carolina property, told Fox News Digital that Munro is no longer employed by The Sea Pines Resort.

On Thursday, Moraghan confirmed to The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette that Munro was placed on administrative leave “amid review of this personnel matter.”

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Fox 35 Orlando, on Nov. 19, 2023, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the resort in reference to a battery.

A preliminary investigation revealed that just before 7:30 p.m., a restaurant hostess was checking a family in who had a reservation for three. However, the group arrived with four people; two women and two men.

According to the arrest records, one of the men, identified as Munro, was not dressed in accordance with the restaurant’s dress code.

He was wearing swim shorts and a T-shirt and Cítricos’ website states that “guests are expected to dress accordingly in attire that respects the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic,” adding explicitly that swimwear isn’t allowed.

Because Munro was wearing “swimming shorts and a T-shirt,” he was told by the hostess that he would not be allowed to dine with his family, the report stated. Munro seemed to understand but said he’d wait with his group until they were seated. The hostess agreed to his request, but the situation escalated when she took the group to be seated moments later.

According to deputies, Munro followed the party of three to their table even though he was told he was not allowed to do so.

“Please don’t allow him to sit with us, he is really drunk, underdressed, it’s my birthday, and I’m embarrassed,” one of the woman told the hostess, according to the affidavit.

When the hostess told Munro that he couldn’t sit with the group, he “began to repeatedly slap her forehead” three times while stating her name, which he read from the name tag on her shirt, deputies stated.

The hostess sustained no injuries and declined medical treatment, and wished to pursue charges, deputies said.

Deputies caught up with Munro, who they said was apparently intoxicated based on his “slurred speech, glossy red eyes, and constant repeating that he was going to sue Disney,” the arrest affidavit said.

Munro was arrested and released on a $1,000 bond the next morning.

Surveillance video from the restaurant was not available, but prosecutors plan to use police body camera footage from the incident, according to Florida court records.

Munro entered a plea of not guilty and is expected to appear in court for a pre-trial conference hearing on Feb. 16.

Former UFC fighter Conor McGregor aims criticism at Irish leaders amid unrest in Dublin

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor voiced his displeasure with Irish law enforcement’s and others in leadership positions handling of the recent stabbing incident in Dublin.

McGregor appeared to argue that his home country is in danger due to the crime and his belief that officials have not properly worked to remedy it. McGregor was born in Ireland.

Earlier this week, the mixed martial arts star took to social media to demand that Irish authorities condemn rioters who took to the streets after rumors circulated that a foreign national was responsible for the stabbing outside a school in Dublin. The BBC has since reported that the suspect is believed to be a male Irish citizen in his 40s.

As of Friday, an estimated 34 people have been arrested in relation to the riots.

“There is grave danger among us in Ireland that should never be here in the first place, and there has been zero action done to support the public in any way, shape or form with this frightening fact. NOT GOOD ENOUGH,” McGregor posted on X, the company formerly known as Twitter.

CONOR MCGREGOR’S AGENT EXPECTING UFC RETURN IN 2024: ‘HE WANTS TO COMPETE’

Irish Justice Minister Helen McEntee said that those who rioted did not do so for immigration purposes and labeled them as “thugs” and “criminals.”

“There was a protest earlier that was a general peaceful protest, but a separate group then [came] with an intention to seek and wreak havoc,” McEntee said.

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said the country’s capital had endured two attacks — one on innocent children and the other on “our society and the rule of law.”

“These criminals did not do what they did because they love Ireland, they did not do what they did because they wanted to protect Irish people, they did not do it out of any sense of patriotism, however warped,” Varadkar told reporters on Friday morning.

“They did so because they’re filled with hate, they love violence, they love chaos, and they love causing pain to others.”

McGregor seemed to dismiss the statements from the Irish prime minister and other officials.

“Announce our plan of action!! What are we waiting for? Your statements of nothing are absolutely worthless to the solving of this issue,” McGregor wrote in a separate social media post.

McGregor also suggested the country was “at war.”

An estimated 500 people recently took to the streets in Dublin, which resulted in the burning of several cars. A bus was also torched, according to police. Multiple properties in the immediate area also suffered damage.

The motive for the attack remains unknown.

McGregor has been vocal about his desire to see immigration reform in his native country. He previously spoke out about the death of 23-year-old Irish teacher and musician Ashling Murphy. She was killed in a stabbing in 2022.

Last week, a Slovak national was found guilty of murder in the killing. McGregor then responded, saying in part, “The Irish government makes me ashamed to be Irish. We are appalled with you all!”

Former Mafia boss, 88, convicted of ordering several murders pleads for 'compassionate release' from prison

A former crime boss convicted of ordering several murders is appealing for “compassionate release” from federal prison after serving more than 31 years behind bars.  Vittorio “Little Vic” Amuso’s defense attorneys noted in a court filing last week that the 88-year-old’s “advanced age and severe chronic medical conditions, along with his long imprisonment and perfect … Continue reading Former Mafia boss, 88, convicted of ordering several murders pleads for 'compassionate release' from prison

Former Ohio lawmaker ignites Twitter debate over jobs, need for 'side hustles': 'Does that mean I'm poor?'

Former Ohio lawmaker and left-wing activist Nina Turner sparked a Twitter debate about the job market after tweeting that “side hustles” shouldn’t need to exist.

“Side hustles shouldn’t need to exist,” Turner wrote Monday. “One job should be enough.”

Several users replied with their explanations as to why one job is not always enough in the current U.S. economy.

TWITTER ERUPTS AFTER BEING ASKED TO DEFINE ‘WOKE’: ‘MARXIST OPPRESSION NARRATIVES’

“One job would be enough if the State didn’t take its undeserved cut from each and every paycheck,” the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania replied.

Others explained why they work multiple jobs, and suggested Turner’s argument was arrogant.

JOB OPENINGS REMAIN ELEVATED IN NOVEMBER DESPITE FED EFFORTS TO COOL LABOR MARKET

“People should be free to work and make as much as they want. It should not be up to government to shackle anyone to any specific job,” another user said.

Some, though, high-fived Turner’s argument.

“Countries need to speed up their economic transformation. Side hustles and advances that come with getting good jobs for young people are evidence of a failed economy @ninaturner you so right,” one user said.

NOVEMBER JOBS REPORT WAS NOT A BLOWOUT, IT WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

“Yes! I was talking to someone today about how messed up it is that needing more than one job to just meet living expenses is so normalized and how wrong that is. Imagine living in a country where no matter what job you have you have enough money to afford a 1br [1 bedroom] on your own,” comic artist Jason Piperberg wrote.

U.S. job growth rose faster than expected in November despite higher interest rates and soaring inflation. Employers added 263,000 jobs that month, according to the Labor Department.

But some analysts have argued it’s nothing to celebrate.

“The seemingly robust headline number of 263,000 jobs comes from the establishment survey of businesses, while the unemployment rate comes from the household survey,” The Heritage Foundation’s E.J. Antoni wrote. But the household survey also has a measure of employment, and that fell by 138,000. In fact, the household survey has been flat since March of this year, with essentially no jobs added over that time.”

It’s not the first time Turner, the former co-chair for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign, ignited a Twitter debate. When she challenged Twitter CEO Elon Musk last month to define the word “woke,” she got several entertaining responses from social media users who took the opportunity to slam the progressive movement as being based on “Marxist oppression narratives,” or “radical socialism philosophy.”

Former Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter Freedom explained why the NBA is “really mad” as its hypocritical business ties to communist China are exposed Wednesday on “The Ingraham Angle.”

KANTER FREEDOM: Everything the NBA does is either for money or a publicity stunt. It’s been like that for years, so I’m not really surprised. They could care less about the players, about the coaching staff and the fans as long as the league image is profitable.

And finally, they are really mad because someone finally from the inside who played 11 years in this league — [is] going out there and exposing them one by one. And that is unacceptable… What is unacceptable is how they can bow down to the biggest dictatorship out there in the world. So that hurt my heart. I was like, “You know what? Enough is enough. Someone has to call out this hypocrisy.” And I did it.
