Texas inmate serving life for sexual abuse of child escapes prison, authorities say

A manhunt is underway in Texas for a convicted sex offender who escaped from prison on Sunday, authorities said.

Robert Yancy Jr., 39, escaped at about 3:38 p.m. from the Clemens Unit in Brazoria, where he was serving a life sentence without parole for continuous sexual abuse of a child out of Victoria County, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said.

Yancy was last seen in a white Nissan Versa with his mother, Lenor Priestle, the Brazoria County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said in a post on social media.

Deputies immediately entered the vehicle’s license plate into a state-wide license plate reader system and got a hit at around 6:09 p.m., indicating the vehicle was in Victoria County, where authorities say Priestle has an address.

“All information obtained at this point leads us to believe Yancy is no longer in Brazoria County,” the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said.

Just before 8:30 p.m., the Victoria Police Department said officers stopped a white Nissan in the 100 block of Sam Houston Drive in connection with the escaped inmate.

A female driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, had an outstanding felony warrant related to Yancy’s escape, police said. She was taken into custody, though police did not immediately release her identity.

Yancy’s whereabouts were not immediately known. He was last seen wearing a black beanie and a black sweater.

Police warned the public not to approach Yancy and instead to contact local law enforcement.

Authorities asked anyone with information about Yancy’s whereabouts to contact the Office of Inspector General at 1-800-832-8477.

SEAN HANNITY: Far-left radical prosecutors want Trump to die in prison

Fox News host Sean Hannity sounds off on the Democrats’ “weaponization of justice” as former President Donald Trump faces 4th indictment on “Hannity.”

WHO ARE THE 19 PEOPLE INDICTED IN THE GEORGIA ELECTION CASE AGAINST TRUMP?

HANNITY: Now the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, is probably the most recognizable person on the face of the earth, but last night, Fulton County, Georgia, officials insisted that the former president take a mug shot. Now, Trump told Fox News Digital that it was, “not a comfortable feeling – especially when you’ve done nothing wrong.” The process is the punishment, but only part of the punishment. You have far-left radical prosecutors trying to put Donald J. Trump behind bars for hundreds of years. They want him to die in prison. Why? Because he dared to challenge the results of an election.

Now, this is something, by the way, Democrats have done virtually every major election that they lost since 2000. Let’s take Hillary Clinton, for example. She attempted to delegitimize the 2016 election results with a dirty Russian disinformation dossier. Remember, she paid for that from an ex foreign spy, Christopher Steele, though, through money that was unintentionally mislabeled as a mere legal expense. No, it wasn’t a legal expense. No mugshot, no arrest for Hillary Clinton. Her campaign, the DNC, merely forced to pay a small fine. All was forgiven. She got off even easier after she mishandled troves of top secret classified documents on private servers and then, of course, destroyed evidence deleting and bleach bidding, 33,000 subpoenaed emails and, yeah, destroying hard drives in the process along with devices that may have had copies on them.

But according to James Comey, no reasonable prosecutor would ever prosecute, would charge Hillary Clinton. No rage, no mug shots of Hillary Clinton. Comey said this about five years before the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago and the Justice Department charged Donald Trump, oh, for basically the exact same thing, top secret classified documents that they thought were mishandled, but he was the president. She was the Secretary of State. Joe Biden also accused mishandling as senator, vice president, top secret material stored it in his garage, the Penn Biden Center, University of Delaware, his beach house, and guess what? Did it in some cases for decades. Naturally, for Joe Biden, no consequences, no mug shot, no raid, nothing.

Texas man with 'one of the most extensive' child pornography collections sentenced to 30 years in prison

A Texas man was sentenced to three decades in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving and possessing hundreds of thousands of pornographic pictures and videos of children.

Scott Thomas Provost, 64, was convicted in January of receipt and possession of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani via FOX 26 Houston. Provost had more than 300,000 images and 6,000 videos of obscene material involving children in his possession.

With the exception of 22 months, Provost was sentenced to 30 years in prison by U.S. District Judge David Hittner, according to court records. He will also serve 10 years of supervised release when he is released.

Provost will be required to register as a sex offender and will have to pay restitution, which will be determined at a later date, to identify victims, the outlet reported.

He will also have to comply with requirements restricting his access to children and the internet.

“Provost amassed one of the most extensive collections of child pornography videos and images we have seen in this district,” Hamdani said. “Each and every one of the files he had in his possession represents significant trauma and suffering to real children. Today’s sentence demonstrates our commitment to stop those who partake and assist others in viewing child pornography and the continued cycle of abuse these children endure.”

TEXAS MAN SHOOTS, KILLS 2, ALLEGEDLY DEFENDING HIMSELF AT ATM: ‘ROBBERY THAT DIDN’T GO WELL FOR ROBBERS’

According to FOX 26, law enforcement learned of Provost after he was identified as a user of a peer-to-peer network that uses a centralized data store to maintain and deliver information without concerns of censorship.

During a search at Provost’s home in January 2022, authorities discovered nearly four terabytes of pornography, including many downloaded images of child pornography stored on his personal hard drives.

According to court records, forensic analysis showed Provost had 6,718 videos and 313,356 images containing child sexual assault material – some involving children under 12, including infants and toddlers. Many of the images showed young children in bondage and other forms of violence, officials said.

“This is, by far, the largest recovery of child pornographic material by investigators in our FBI Bryan office,” FBI Special Agent in Charge James Smith said. “This individual is one of the worst purveyors of child porn our agents have seen – it was his daily obsession. Unfortunately, with the ever-increasing number of online images depicting sexual abuse of children and an ever-increasing amount of online activity by people seeking to contact them, Provost’s arrest and sentence doesn’t cure the rampant epidemic that is the sexual exploitation of our children.”

Provost will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.

Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, Senate candidate, supported cutting prison population in half

Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, a Democrat running against incumbent Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, has repeatedly advocated for cutting the state’s prison population in half, eliminating cash bail and other progressive criminal justice reforms.

Before entering public office, Barnes previously worked as an organizer for Milwaukee Inner City Congregations Allied for Hope, a Milwaukee-based social justice group, when he teamed up with another organization, Wisdom, to launch a 2012 initiative aimed at cutting Wisconsin’s prison population in half.

The 11×15 campaign sought to reduce the state’s prison population to 11,000 inmates by 2015, Barnes told local media at the time.

Barnes later served two terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly before he was chosen as the running mate to now-Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.

MANDELA BARNES’ TIES TO LINGERIE PARTY BARRING ‘RATCHETS’ COULD HAUNT HIS WISCONSIN SENATE BID

During their campaign in 2018, Evers signed onto Barnes’ idea of halving the state’s prison population. Evers, who at the time was the state schools superintendent, said he wanted to do that by allowing inmates to be released for good behavior, creating or expanding court diversion programs and treating 17-year-old offenders as juveniles instead of adults, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported at the time.

Evers did not put a time frame on halving the prison population, but he called it a “goal” and said he would not release violent offenders.

Months before the election in July 2018, Barnes celebrated Evers and other Democratic gubernatorial candidates for supporting his initiative.

“6 years ago when we kicked off the 11×15 campaign to cut the prison population in half, we could hardly find elected leaders or candidates to get onboard,” Barnes tweeted. “To see it embraced at a gubernatorial candidate forum makes me proud to have worked with such visionary organizers/activists.”

After Evers and Barnes won the election in November 2018, narrowly defeating incumbent Republicans Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch, Barnes continued supporting the prison initiative, tweeting in October 2019, “Cool, let’s cut our prison population in half.”

Since Evers and Barnes entered office, Wisconsin’s prison population has been reduced by about 15%. In 2019, the population was 23,777, compared to 20,123 today, according to 2022 statistics from the state Department of Corrections.

The vast majority of those currently incarcerated – 68% – are classified as “violent” offenders, meaning it would be impossible to cut the population in “half” without releasing at least some of those violent offenders.

WISCONSIN DEM SENATE CANDIDATE SPENT NEARLY $600K ON POLICE DETAIL WHILE COZYING UP TO DEFUND POLICE MOVEMENT

In 2016, when he was still a state legislator, Barnes sponsored a bill to end cash bail in Wisconsin. The measure, which did not make it out of committee, would have required a defendant to be released unless there was “clear and convincing evidence” that he or she was a flight risk or a danger to society, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

During a September 2018 podcast, Barnes also said he supported allowing inmates to vote.

“I’ve long championed restoration of voting rights immediately once someone has served their sentence, and I mean, honestly, even when someone is locked up,” he said.

Barnes has also made statements online with a soft tone on the defund the police movement, and his campaign has received funding from five groups that advocate for defunding cops.

“Defunding the police only dreams of being as radical as a Donald Trump pardon,” Barnes tweeted in July 2020.

On Sept. 3, 2020, Barnes blasted the criminal justice system after the police officers involved in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor did not face charges.

“You can feel how you want about to calls to reform, defund, or abolish but the question is, how can a system that allows this to happen continue to be upheld?” he wrote.

The lieutenant governor also spoke at a major meeting for the Center for Popular Democracy — a far-left group that supports defunding the police and claims Israel targets Palestinians with “violent attacks.”

“Defund police. Defund police states,” the group tweeted in May of last year. “Defund militarized occupation. Defund state-sanctioned violence.”

Barnes has stated in the press that he does not support the defund the police movement, despite his past statements.

Johnson’s campaign slammed Barnes as “dangerous” in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Lt. Gov. Barnes is a socialist liberal who cares more about catering to his ‘woke’ base than keeping Wisconsin families safe,” Johnson campaign spokesman Alec Zimmerman said.

“Crime is out-of-control in Wisconsin, and we can’t afford to elect a radical who cares more about criminals than their victims. Mandela Barnes is dangerous for Wisconsin,” he said.

Barnes’s campaign did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
