Jordan told FOX news the turning point might have been New York City Mayor Eric Adams warning that … Continue reading Media 'waking up' to border deluge and pressing White House because they can't avoid it now: Jim Jordan

White House deflects when confronted with Biden's mask hypocrisy: 'We've got to put this all in context'

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday deflected questions on President Biden’s flagrant violation of COVID-19 protocols at a Medal of Honor ceremony.

The CDC guidelines that the White House said Biden would observe after first lady Jill Biden tested positive for the coronavirus state those exposed to COVID-19 must wear a mask when indoors and around other people. But Biden removed his mask to deliver remarks at the ceremony for retired Army Capt. Larry Taylor in the White House East Room on Tuesday — and he never put it back on.

Pressed by reporters, Jean-Pierre acknowledged Biden did not have his mask on and explained he left the ceremony early to limit his contact with those in attendance.

BIDEN RIPPED FOR LEAVING MEDAL OF HONOR CEREMONY EARLY: ‘ABHORRENT’

“The president took off his mask, as I said he would, to deliver incredibly powerful remarks about this captain, Captain Taylor, and what he did in service to our nation,” Jean-Pierre said Wednesday. “And for a brief time afterwards, he also didn’t have his mask on.”

Social media users slammed Biden after it appeared he “bolted out of the room” and disrespected Taylor, who had just received the nation’s highest honor. But the White House said Biden’s rapid exit was planned.

BIDEN’S RETURN TO INDOOR MASKING DRAWS SCORN ONLINE: ‘SUCH NONSENSE FEARMONGERING’

“He left as planned, as it was planned,” Jean-Pierre told reporters. “He left when there was a pause in the program in order to minimize his close contact with attendees who are about to participate in a reception.”

Jean-Pierre emphasized that Biden’s mask mishap and departure from the ceremony needed to be placed into “context.” She pointed to Biden’s negative COVID tests this week and said “we are in a different phase” of COVID now that the pandemic is officially over.

BIDEN TO MASK UP INDOORS AGAIN AFTER NEGATIVE COVID TEST

“We’ve got to put this all in context,” she said. “We planned for the president to leave when there was a pause in the program so that it would minimize him being in the room. He did just that. And I also would want to add that before the event started, the president spent a good amount of time with the captain, Captain Taylor and his family. And everybody was masked because he wanted to spend that quality, important time.”

Asked if the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should update its year-old guidance on COVID-19 protocols, Jean-Pierre punted the question to the CDC.

“That is not for me to speak to, it truly isn’t,” she said. “That is something the CDC decides on. They are the experts.”

Chaotic brawl erupts between fans in luxury suites during White Sox game

The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox are crosstown rivals and their respective fans are not particularly fond of one another. The apparent vitriol was on full display in Guaranteed Rate Field’s luxury suites on Wednesday.

At one point during the Cubs 10-7 win over the White Sox, a brawl broke out among some fans.

A video posted to Twitter showed two women fighting in one corner of the suite, while two male fans were engaged in a physical altercation in nearby seats.

A man wearing a blue shirt appeared to repeatedly hit another fan until he was pulled over the seats and escorted to the back of the suite area.

Someone in the background of the video noted, “It needs to be separated,” in reference to the melee.

Fights breaking out in the stands among fans has happened numerous times at MLB games, but brawls taking place in luxury suites are somewhat unusual.

The individuals involved in the fight have not yet been identified. It remains unclear if anyone was injured.

The White Sox have not commented on the situation as of Thursday afternoon.

The White Sox begin a four-game series with the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday night. The Cubs take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Thursday.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams slams 'irresponsibility' of White House on immigration

New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday criticized the “irresponsibility” of the White House regarding immigration.

The comments came during a press conference, where Adams complained his city has taken in a burden of asylum-seekers due to failures by both parties in the nation’s capital.

“It is not about the asylum-seekers and migrants, all of us came from somewhere to pursue the American Dream,” Adams said. “It is the irresponsibility of the Republican Party in Washington for refusing to do real immigration reform, and it’s the irresponsibility of the White House for not addressing this problem.”

The complaint came a day after Adams criticized Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for his latest plan to send asylum-seekers to cities across the nation.

NYC MAYOR ERIC ADAMS ACCUSES TEXAS GOV. GREG ABBOTT OF TARGETING ‘BLACK-RUN CITIES’ WITH MIGRANT BUSES

“Not only is this behavior morally bankrupt and devoid of any concern for the well-being of asylum seekers, but it is also impossible to ignore the fact that Abbott is now targeting five cities run by Black mayors,” Adams said. “Put plainly, Abbott is using this crisis to hurt Black-run cities.”

NYC MAYOR ERIC ADAMS SAYS ‘MIGRANT CRISIS’ UNDER BIDEN ADMINISTRATION HAS ‘DESTROYED’ CITY

Adams clarified in an interview on WABC Tuesday he did not think Abbott’s actions make him a racist.

“I didn’t use the term racist,” Adams sad. “What I did was show the facts. We have 108,000 cities in America, 108,000. Many of them are Democratic cities, but where did Abbott send the migrants? To New York, to Chicago, to Denver, to Los Angeles, to Houston, to Washington. Each one of those cities are run by Black mayors.”

Democrats drop oppo dump on Ron DeSantis in effort to derail White House hopes

A top progressive group dropped volumes of opposition research Monday against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in an effort to derail his presidential campaign before he even announces.

The research, released as a standalone website titled “DeSantisResearchBook,” seeks to establish DeSantis as a “MAGA extremist,” and highlights his voting record in Congress as well as his actions as governor. American Bridge 21st Century, the group behind the dump, calls DeSantis a “failed governor” and a “hypocrite,” though there are no significant allegations in the report.

The website breaks down DeSantis’ political history into an issue-by-issue format, detailing his voting record and positions on issues like hurricane relief, abortion and the economy.

American Bridge deems DeSantis a “bumbling, corrupt and authoritarian politician” over his feud with Disney last year, a move whose popularity broke largely along party lines.

2024 FRICTION: FORMER TRUMP OFFICIALS JOIN PRO-DESANTIS GROUP

DeSantis is “caught up in culture wars, unfit for office and utterly unprepared for the public pressure that comes with a contentious Republican presidential primary,” American Bridge president Pat Dennis told Axios.

DeSantis is widely seen as the most credible rival for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican primary, though he has yet to announce his campaign. While DeSantis leads Trump in a handful of states, he trails the former president in most polling.

DeSantis’ office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

The site confirms that many Democrats view DeSantis as a major threat to President Biden’s re-election chances should he win the Republican nomination. American Bridge also released an opposition research website targeting Trump in 2020.

The only Republicans who have formally announced campaigns so far are Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Nevertheless, several major players are still expected to enter the race, including DeSantis himself.

Vice President Mike Pence is the most likely to throw his hat in the ring in the near future, while former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is also a potential candidate.
