Multiple shot in Falls Township, Pennsylvania, active shooter on the loose; 3 dead

Police have lifted a shelter-in-place order in Falls Township, Pennsylvania, after an active shooter killed at least three people and fled across state lines.

Authorities say that suspect Andre Gordon, 26, is currently barricaded, with hostages, inside a residence in Trenton, New Jersey. He is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous, according to the Falls Township Police Department.

“Police are asking residents to lock all doors and move to a central and secure location away from windows,” the department said. The shelter-in-place order was lifted at around 12:25 p.m.

At around 8:52 a.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to investigate reports of a shooting at the unit block of Viewpoint Lane, Levittown. A preliminary investigation determined that Gordon allegedly shot and killed two individuals who live at the residence, according to Christopher Clark, an operations lieutenant with the Falls Township Police Department.

Clark said that following the shooting at around 9:01 a.m., Gordon went to the unit block of Edgewood Lane, where he allegedly shot and killed another individual before fleeing the scene. Approximately 12 minutes later, Gordon allegedly carjacked a victim at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Dollar General in Bristol Pike, Morrisville. The carjacking victim suffered no injuries, according to police.

“It is believed that Gordon knew all of the victims (except the victim of the carjacking),” Clark said. “Gordon is believed to be currently homeless and has ties to the Trenton, New Jersey, area.”

The stolen vehicle Gordon allegedly drove is a 2016 dark gray Honda CRV, with Pennsylvania license plate KFR 1534 and a “Namaste” sticker in white lettering on the right side of the rear bumper. The vehicle was located at approximately 11:38 a.m., unoccupied, in the 100 block of Miller Street in Trenton, police said.

Police described Gordon as approximately 6’1″ with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and is believed to be in possession of a rifle. He may be in possession of other weapons as well, according to police.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said he has been briefed on the developing situation and has directed the Pennsylvania State Police to support local law enforcement.

“For those in the area, please continue to shelter in place and listen to law enforcement’s direction,” Shapiro said.

Authorities in neighboring Middletown Township said there have been confirmed shootings in Falls Township.

“There are several gun shot victims and it is unknown at this time if they are targeted or random,” the Middletown Township Police Department said. “MTPD is monitoring our traffic and borders, and it does not seem that the shooter has entered our township limits.”

Middletown Township police said this is a “fluid situation” and warned residents not to travel to Falls Township until further notice.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in an investigation.

“The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement officials are assisting the Falls Township Police Department in an active police investigation and are urging residents in the township to shelter-in-place. Report any suspicious activity to 911,” the DA’s office said.

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., who represents Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District, said his office is monitoring the situation.

“There is an active shooter alert in Falls Township — we are monitoring a carjacking and a shooting in two sections of Falls Township,” Fitzpatrick posted on X. “I’m in touch with law enforcement officials as they pursue the suspect. More information to follow — please be alert of your surroundings and stay safe.”

The Bucks County St. Patrick’s Day Parade was canceled due to the shelter-in-place order and several local businesses in the area have temporarily closed, FOX 29 Philadelphia reported

Falls Township is located about 28 miles northeast of Philadelphia.

Country music trio The Chicks recently announced the cancellation of multiple performances due to a mystery illness.

After sharing a series of updates on social media with their fans, The Chicks’ most recent post stated they had to reschedule another show and completely cancel a New York performance.

“Due to an ongoing illness, we regret that we must reschedule our show at Merriweather Post Pavilion and cancel our show at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts,” the country band said on Instagram.

Although the band promised refunds for their canceled show at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, several fans were not pleased with the announcement.

“We understand someone is sick but your not even gonna give us a rescheduled date for bethel woods??” one fan expressed.

Another fan appeared upset about the rescheduled performances.

“I’ll be out of the country on the rescheduled date for Merriweather & I spent $500 on these tickets. This is so wrong!!!!!” a comment read.

Others sympathized with the country music trio and sent them well wishes for a speedy recovery.

“I can’t imagine the toll that touring/performing takes on the mind and body. Please take care and feel better soon!”

The Chicks’ tour update comes after several postponed shows over the past five days.

Scheduled performances in North Carolina and Tennessee have been pushed to later dates in August and September, also “due to illness.”

“We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but our priority is to put on a show you all deserve,” the country band said in part.

Last week, The Chicks first announced their show cancellation in Nashville.

“Due to illness, The Chicks must regretfully postpone tonight’s show at Bridgestone Arena,” the group shared.

“The Chicks are looking forward to seeing their Nashville fans soon and apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.”

Last year, the multiple platinum-selling female trio announced their return to the major touring circuit for the first time since 2017.

The 13-time Grammy-winning group shared at the time that The Chicks Tour would hit 27 North American locations and scheduled performances from June 2022 until October 2023.

Formerly known as The Dixie Chicks, the band members are Natalie Maines, Martie Erwin Maguire and Emily Strayer.

In June 2020, The Chicks announced their name change due to the Black Lives Matter protests.

A statement on The Chicks’ website said, “We want to meet this moment.” The term Dixie refers to Southern U.S. states, especially those that belonged to the Confederacy.

The Chicks also released a song at the time titled “March March” from their comeback album “Gaslighter,” which features videos and images from Black Lives Matter rallies.

Indiana woman killed in flash flood, multiple homes destroyed

A woman was killed during weekend flash flooding in rural southeastern Indiana that damaged numerous homes and washed away several roads, officials said.

Normally small creeks were overwhelmed as perhaps eight inches of rain fell Saturday night in parts of Jefferson and Switzerland counties. The Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency said one woman was found dead, along with two homes destroyed and more than 20 buildings damaged around the rural community of Manville.

Resident Kim Schultz told WDRB-TV that a friend tried to get the woman to leave her house before it was swept away, but she didn’t want to go.

The fast-rising waters swept away several vehicles and uprooted trees. Jefferson County officials said at least two damaged bridges were closed indefinitely, while the state highway department closed a bridge for Indiana 250 in Switzerland County for repairs.

Jefferson County road department worker Chad Backus told WLKY-TV that it expected it would be several weeks before all roads would be reopened in the area about midway between Louisville, Kentucky, and Cincinnati.
